I am touching base again at about 2 AM on night and day #6.

After I wake up tomorrow, I will have successfully completed a week of Everyman sleep!

The past few days

Monday was an extremely positive day for me. My biggest struggle has been my energy levels in the morning once I’m waking up around 6 AM. Over the first many days I had a hard time doing anything for quite a while after waking up. On Monday, though, I was able to start working at 6:30 and be pretty productive up until my 9:30 nap. After the nap I had some classes, did some work, had some meals, played in an IM soccer game, hung out with some friends and took two more naps.

It wasn’t until about 12:30 AM that I felt like I was running low on energy. So going from 6:30 AM to 12:30 at a pretty high level made me super optimistic.

Today (Tuesday) was significantly harder, though. I don’t think it was until about 6 PM that I really felt good. I was up at 6 AM, tried to function and move until about 7:15, did a bit of work until my 9:30 nap, did a bit more work after that, had 6 hours straight of class and then got a 5:30 nap.

After my 5:30 nap I have felt totally fine, but the beginning of my day was the hardest span of ~12 hours that I’ve had yet since the cycle started. Really low energy, not very productive, hard time focusing.

I think that’s for one of two reasons.

  1. I pushed myself too hard on Monday
  2. Some of this stuff is catching up to me more than I thought it was going to after such a strong first 5 days

I’m hopeful that it’s because of #1. And I’m optimistic that I was able to have the positive rest of the day that I did.

Other Thoughts

Tomorrow will mark a week. So at this point, I see no reason to stop. My naps have been getting more fulfilling, I’ve been falling asleep quicker, and I’m still very much enjoying all of the time in the day. I’m just cautiously optimistic that I won’t have as much of a difficult day tomorrow, or over the next few days, as I did today.

I think I’ll also try caffeine on Thursday to get me through my long block of time.

This has also just been kind of fun. Pushing myself, despite the fact that it might not be super healthy. I am getting a much better idea of what I need to be able to focus, work hard, etc. and with the extra time, despite the fact that I still feel like there’s not enough time in the day, I’ve had more time to do more of what I like.

So the journey continues :)
